When we decided we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, we immediately went and picked out rings, the same day Allen put one in layaway until we were ready to make it official. We had first decided to get engaged on Christmas, but it was too soon, then Valentine's Day, still.. too soon. Easter rolled around and we knew it was the right time. Allen proposed on April 4th, 1998. We announced it that following Easter Sunday to all out family and friends. Everyone was so happy for us!
